The popular OWN series ”Love & Marriage: Detroit” is set to return to screens this September with an emotional and engaging new season. The show follows the lives of several African American couples deeply rooted in the vibrant city of Detroit, each facing their own challenges.
This season, no relationship is without its trials as the couples deal with marriage, family, and personal struggles.
For Kristina and Brandon Bowman-Smith, their 12-year marriage hits a rough patch, leading to a separation. Kristina, a stylist and influencer, must now contemplate her future as a single mother, while Brandon, owner of Star Factory, deals with the fallout of a break-in at his business. Can they find their way back to each other, or will their marriage succumb to the pressure?
Kolby and Russell Harris, married for four years and with a young family, face a different challenge. Russell, a pastor and non-profit founder, desires a large family, but Kolby, already pregnant with their second child, had always envisioned a smaller family. As they clash over their differing visions, how will they reconcile their dreams and move forward together?
Dr. LaToya Thompson, a successful physical therapist and wine entrepreneur, and her husband, Anthony, who works in the touring industry and owns a production studio, are not immune to difficulties. LaToya, the primary breadwinner, grapples with the ever-elusive work-life balance, while Anthony expands his men’s organization to provide a safe space for men to discuss relationships and life.
Adding to the dynamic are two new couples: Marcel and Kimberly Dobine, and Bravo and Lakeita Samuels. The Dobines, friends with the existing couples, bring their own unique communication challenges, while the Samuels, high school sweethearts, cope with the demands of a busy hospitality career and the desire for more presence at home.
The new season of ”Love & Marriage: Detroit” will premiere on Saturday, September 7, at 9/8c on OWN. It will then move to its regular time slot of 8/7c on Saturdays from September 14.
