Mayfair Witches Season Two Trailer Conjures Up Family Drama and Demonic Dilemmas

Mayfair Witches Key Art

Just in time for the spooky season, AMC has released the trailer for the second season of “Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches,” and it looks like things are about to get even more witchy in New Orleans. Picking up after the dramatic events of the first season, Rowan Mayfair, played by Alexandra Daddario, finds herself grappling with motherhood… of the demonic kind.

Having birthed Lasher, the entity that has haunted her family for generations (played by Jack Huston), Rowan now faces the daunting task of figuring out what exactly he is. The trailer hints at a classic nature versus nurture dilemma, with Rowan torn between her desire to use Lasher’s powers for healing and the growing realization that he might be more monster than man.

Family drama, always a staple in the world of Anne Rice, takes center stage as tragedy strikes the Mayfair clan. Rowan must choose between her personal ambitions and protecting her family, a conflict that promises plenty of gothic angst and supernatural showdowns. The returning cast, includes Harry Hamlin and Tongayi Chirisa, and new additions to the cast include Ben Feldman, Ted Levine, and Thora Birch.

Overall, the trailer suggests a darker, more intense season, with Rowan fully embracing her powers and confronting the consequences of her choices. Whether the series can improve upon the somewhat uneven first season is an open question, but fans of Rice’s gothic world and supernatural soap operas will likely find plenty to sink their teeth into.

“Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches” Season Two premieres January 5th on AMC+ and AMC. The series is executive produced by Mark Johnson, Esta Spalding, Tom Williams, Michelle Ashford, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice, and is produced by AMC Studios.
