The UEFA Euro 2024 group stage continues with a highly anticipated match-up between two football powerhouses, the Netherlands and France, airing on BBC One on Friday 21 June. The game, taking place in Leipzig Stadium, will be a thrilling encounter as both teams look to assert their dominance in Group D.
The Dutch team, led by manager Ronald Koeman, is seeking to reclaim past glory, having won their last major title in 1988. Since then, they have come close, reaching the semi-finals of both the Euros and the World Cup on multiple occasions.
On the other hand, the French have been more successful in recent tournaments, lifting the World Cup trophy twice and finishing as runners-up in the Euros twice, including a victory in 2000.
The match will feature some of the world’s best players, such as Kylian Mbappé, who dazzled in the 2022 World Cup, and his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Ousmane Dembélé. France will also rely on the experience of all-time leading goalscorer Olivier Giroud, who has announced his retirement from international football following this tournament.
Gary Lineker presents and commentary is provided by Steve Wilson and Jermaine Jenas.
