ESPN Films adds “Motorcycle Mary” to its 30 for 30 Shorts lineup, premiering November 3rd at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and ESPN+. The documentary short, directed by Haley Watson and produced by Rachel Greenwald, with Ben Proudfoot and Lewis Hamilton executive producing, profiles motorsports trailblazer Mary McGee. Having premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Festival, the film utilizes archival footage and photos to trace McGee’s career.

McGee’s three-decade racing career saw her shatter gender norms across multiple disciplines. The film follows her trajectory from a childhood in Alaska, shaped by fear and her brother’s influence, to becoming the first woman to race motorcycles in the US. “Motorcycle Mary” examines her perseverance against sexism and personal loss, leading up to her groundbreaking solo Baja 500 motorcycle race.
