A&E’s true-crime series Murder at the Motel continues with its fourth episode, titled “Murder in the Parish,” airing on June 5, 2024.

On March 24, 2016, a distressing phone call was made to the DeRidder, Louisiana Sheriff’s Office from the owner of Dee’s Motel, who reported finding a woman dead in room 6. When police arrived, they discovered a gruesome scene: the body of Sonya Ortego, who had been staying at the motel with her fiancé for two months, bore signs of a brutal attack.

The investigation unfolds as detectives interview witnesses and collect evidence, leading them to suspect a killer may be roaming free in DeRidder.
