On Monday’s premiere of NCIS: Origins, viewers are introduced to a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Austin Stowell, as he embarks on his career in the early ’90s. Set in Camp Pendleton, this prequel series takes audiences back to Gibbs’ beginnings as a new special agent in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
Guided by his mentor, NCIS legend Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid), Gibbs joins a tough and resourceful team of agents tasked with solving military-related crimes.
The first episode sets up the team’s dynamics and introduces key characters, including Mariel Molino as Special Agent Lala Dominguez, Tyla Abercrumbie as Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo Sullivan, and Diany Rodriguez as Special Agent Vera Strickland.
Narrated by Mark Harmon, the series offers a fresh perspective on Gibbs’ formative years and hints at the challenges that await him as he works through this pivotal stage in his career.
