NCIS Season 22, Episode 2 Recap: Diplomatic Disasters and Double Dead Bodies

NCIS Key Art

This week’s NCIS, “Foreign Bodies,” opens with a bang – or, more accurately, a splat. Vance (Rocky Carroll), blood-soaked, with a dead Venezuelan agent on his office floor. Chaos ensues as the team scrambles to contain the fallout from Vance’s off-the-books operation. The ensuing frantic attempts to dispose of a body discreetly, amidst a high-stakes diplomatic meeting, provide plenty of dark humor. Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), naturally, steals the show, searching for a tie amidst the mayhem.

Parker, ever the smooth operator, deflects the press with his trademark wit, providing a much-needed distraction while the team engages in some highly indiscreet activities. His deadpan delivery about discretion being his middle name is perfectly timed, highlighting the absurdity of the situation.

The episode juggles multiple storylines, including Vance’s surprise reunion with his girlfriend, Lena (Marem Hassler), a NATO representative with her own undercover agenda. This leads to a second body – a hitman linked to a diamond smuggling ring – adding yet more complication to an already convoluted situation.

A nosy “reporter,” who turns out to be a Hezbollah terrorist, throws another wrench into the works, attempting to kidnap Lena. Thankfully, McGee (Sean Murray) and Jess (Katrina Law) thwart the kidnapping, allowing the diplomatic merry-go-round to continue spinning.

Amidst the chaos, Vance and Parker (Gary Cole) share a quiet moment, reflecting on their respective near-death experiences. Vance reveals his newfound appreciation for life, specifically his relationship with Lena. With Lena’s move to New York, Vance seems poised to prioritize his personal life, leaving viewers to wonder about his future at NCIS.
