An advice columnist’s life takes a mysterious turn in the original movie, Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement, premiering on Hallmark Mystery on Friday, August 23, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Pascale Hutton (When Calls the Heart, Fourth Down and Love) and Kavan Smith (When Calls the Heart, Big Sky River: The Bridal Path), the film sees Nelly tackling a murder mystery involving her childhood friend.
The story begins when Nelly (Pascale Hutton) receives an unusual handwritten letter at her office, penned by her childhood friend, Dahlia (Sarah Grey, The Secret Lives of College Freshman). Dahlia claims that her boyfriend, Blake (Julian Haig, Dial S for Santa), is being unfaithful. Nelly, true to her nature, sets out to get some answers. However, when she rushes to Blake’s home, she discovers his dead body, and the mystery deepens.
Dahlia becomes the prime suspect in Blake’s murder, but Nelly is convinced of her friend’s innocence. She finds an ally in the newly arrived handsome Detective Michael Hogan (Kavan Smith), who works with her to clear Dahlia’s name. Together, they embark on a quest to uncover the truth and find the real killer.
Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement is produced by Muse Entertainment, with executive producers Joel S. Rice, Aren Prupas, and David I. Strasser. Charles Cooper serves as the producer, and the movie is directed by David I. Strasser, with a script by Katherine Wagner.
