Netflix has announced that The Night Agent will return for its second season in Winter 2025. Following a successful inaugural season that became the most-watched series of 2023, the show has established itself as a significant player on the platform, currently ranking as the seventh most popular English series in Netflix history, amassing over 98.2 million views within its first 91 days.
The series was notably dominant in its first month, holding the number one position in the Global Top 10 for four consecutive weeks and topping the charts in 87 countries.
The second season continues the story of FBI Agent Peter Sutherland, portrayed by Gabriel Basso, who is drawn into the secretive Night Action organization following his heroic efforts to save the President in Season 1. The narrative will deepen the exploration of trust and danger in the high-stakes world of espionage.
In addition to Season 2, Netflix has already greenlit a third season, which will consist of ten episodes and will commence filming in Istanbul at the end of 2024 before moving to New York.
The series is based on the novel by Matthew Quirk and features a creative team led by showrunner Shawn Ryan, known for his work on The Shield and S.W.A.T. Season 2 will see executive producers Marney Hochman, Paul Bernard, Munis Rashid, and Guy Ferland, along with a consortium of production entities including MiddKid Productions, Exhibit A Films, and Project X Entertainment.
