Netflix has announced that its new anime series, ‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’, will be released October 10. The streaming platform also unveiled a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated show, which is based on the popular ‘Tomb Raider’ video game franchise.
The series will star Hayley Atwell as the voice of Lara Croft, with Allen Maldonado and Earl Baylon joining the cast as Zip and Jonah Maiava, respectively. The show is produced by Legendary Television and DJ2 Entertainment, with Powerhouse Animation Studios handling the animation.
‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ is set after the events of the recent ‘Tomb Raider’ reboot trilogy, which concluded with ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ in 2018. The anime series will bridge the gap between the reboot trilogy and the original series of games, exploring new territory in the ‘Tomb Raider’ universe.
The series is written by Tasha Huo, who also serves as showrunner, and is directed by Joey Soloway, known for their work on ‘Transparent’. The show is a collaboration between Netflix, Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix, and Legendary Television.
With a rich history spanning almost three decades, the ‘Tomb Raider’ franchise has become one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world, with multiple film adaptations and a dedicated fan base. The anime series promises to bring the iconic heroine, Lara Croft, to life in a thrilling and imaginative way.
