New Acorn TV Series ‘Relative Secrets’ to Explore Hidden Criminal Histories in Family Trees

AMC Networks’ Acorn TV, in collaboration with AMC Studios and Cream Productions, has announced the launch of its first unscripted original series, ‘Relative Secrets.’ The show combines elements of true-crime and genealogy, investigating the family histories of participants to uncover dark truths hidden within their lineages.

Hosted by celebrated actress Jane Seymour, known for her roles in ‘Live and Let Die,’ ‘East of Eden,’ and ‘Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,’ the series aims to solve mysteries embedded in the family trees of everyday Americans. Each episode will explore how these hidden pasts shape the families today, with a focus on the connections between American families and their UK heritage.

The series, produced by Cream Productions, known for their work on ‘Fear Thy Neighbor,’ ‘Murder U,’ and ‘BTK: A Killer Among Us,’ will feature a range of colorful characters and dramatic twists. These include a 99-year-old World War II veteran concerned about his grandmother’s murder, the daughter of a serial killer seeking her own identity, and a mother who abandoned her children to start a new life.

Jane Seymour will oversee the investigations, led by archaeologist Natasha Billson. The series is executive produced by David W. Brady, Kate Harrison Karman, John Ealer, and Seymour. Ealer and Series Producer Felicity Justrabo serve as series writers and directors.
