New Clip from Britbox Thriller ‘Passenger’ Released Ahead of October 17 Premiere

Passenger

BritBox has shared an intense trailer for the series “Passenger,” which premieres on Thursday, October 17. The first two episodes will be available for streaming at 9:00 p.m. ET on the same day.

The premiere episode will also screen at New York Comic Con on October 17, followed by a panel with the cast and creator. The screening is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Room 409.

Written by debut screenwriter Andrew Buchan, known for his acting roles in “Broadchurch” and “The Honourable Woman,” “Passenger” is set in the small Northern town of Chadder Vale. Former Met Police Detective Riya Ajunwa, played by Wunmi Mosaku, investigates a series of bizarre crimes that unsettle the community.

Having arrived in Chadder Vale five years prior, Ajunwa has been seeking a challenging case to reignite her passion for detective work. The disappearance and sudden reappearance of local girl Katie Wells, played by Rowan Robinson, triggers a deeper investigation. While the townspeople quickly move on, Ajunwa’s suspicions grow.

As more peculiar events occur, the residents attribute them to external factors like the nearby fracking site, managed by David Threlfall’s character, Jim Bracknell. However, Ajunwa is convinced that something far more troubling is at play, despite pushback from the community.

“Passenger” is executive produced by Lucy Dyke and Simon Maloney for Northern Sister, and Jane Featherstone for SISTER. Reemah Sakaan and Stephen Nye oversee for BritBox International. Commissioned by ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill, the series is produced by Sumrah Mohammed and directed by Lee Haven-Jones and Nicole Charles.
