The second episode of the documentary series My Glastonbury airs on BBC Two on Tuesday 25 June and focuses on Coldplay’s journey and connection with the iconic music festival. The episode, titled “Coldplay: Our Glastonbury,” offers a fascinating look back at the band’s history with the festival, from their early days to their record-breaking headline performances.
Chris Martin and the rest of Coldplay guide viewers through their 25-year experience at Glastonbury. They share their memories, starting from their debut in the New Bands Tent in 1999 to their rapid progression to the Other Stage in 2000.
The band also recalls their performance at the Pilton Fete in 2001, which left such an impression on festival founder Michael Eavis that he invited them back to headline in 2002. Since then, Coldplay has headlined multiple times, including in 2005, 2011, and 2016, with another headline set scheduled for this year’s festival.
In addition to their own performances, Chris Martin also highlights some of the other artists that have left a lasting impression on the band over the years. He mentions acts like Pulp in 1995, Badly Drawn Boy in 2000, and Stormzy more recently in 2019, showcasing the diverse range of talent that has graced the Glastonbury stages.
