Paramount+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming original series, Fake, set to premiere in July. The highly anticipated show is based on Stephanie Wood’s powerful memoir of the same name and stars Gold Logie award-winning actress Asher Keddie and Australian Film Institute award-winning actor David Wenham.

Fake is an intense and gripping eight-part series that follows Birdie Bell, a magazine features writer who finds herself entangled in a web of lies and deception when she meets the charismatic and successful grazier, Joe Burt, on a dating app.

Birdie, portrayed by Keddie, finds herself drawn to Joe (Wenham), but as their relationship intensifies, she begins to question his true nature and intentions. The series explores the psychology of a love scam victim, questioning the narratives we tell ourselves and the instincts we often deny.

Producers Imogen Banks and Emelyne Palmer, along with co-producer Asher Keddie, expressed their pride in bringing this “thrilling, courageous, and intensely relevant drama” to life. They praised creator and writer Anya Beyersdorf for crafting an “experiential show” that will resonate with anyone who has ever been deceived.
