Paramount+ has announced that Emmy nominee Richard Gere will join the cast of its upcoming espionage political thriller series, The Agency (formerly known as The Department). Gere, a Golden Globe winner and renowned humanitarian, adds further star power to an already impressive ensemble.
In The Agency, Gere will portray “Bosko”, a London Station Chief with a mysterious past, including a stint as an undercover agent. Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, expressed his enthusiasm for Gere’s involvement, stating, “Richard Gere is in a class of his own… We are delighted to have him join our extraordinary cast.”
The series, currently in production in London, boasts a stellar creative team, including executive producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov of Smokehouse Pictures. With a fresh take on the critically acclaimed French drama Le Bureau des Légendes (known as The Bureau internationally), The Agency mixes intrigue and politics.
Gere’s involvement in The Agency adds another notable project to his extensive resume, which includes films such as An Officer and a Gentleman, Pretty Woman, and Chicago. Outside of acting, Gere is known for his dedication to human and civil rights, receiving numerous awards for his humanitarian efforts.
