The latest “Real Housewives of New York” installment offers a Hamptons getaway, a marked improvement over last season’s disastrous trip. The relative calm is punctuated by minor dramas, including a quickly resolved carpool misunderstanding and a predictable flare-up between Sai and Brynn. Jenna’s lingerie gifts, thankfully, avoid a repeat of last season’s overwrought reactions.
While Erin’s gift-giving efforts pale in comparison to Jenna’s, the overall atmosphere is one of attempted reconciliation. Dinner conversations reveal personal details about Raquel’s engagement and Rebecca’s dating history, though the pearl-clutching over the latter’s teenage birth control feels manufactured.
The episode’s climax, a confrontation between Ubah and Brynn, is more confusing than compelling. Ubah’s rant, filled with “pigeon” and “snake” metaphors, ends as abruptly as it begins, thanks to Sai’s inexplicable “pineapple” interjection.
The underlying tensions between Ubah and Brynn, however, remain palpable.
Real Housewives of New York airs Tuesday nights on Bravo.
