The Discovery Channel’s Shark Week continues with “Alien Sharks: Ghosts of Japan,” airing on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 10:06 p.m. In this episode, wildlife biologist Forrest Galante, deep-sea marine scientist Christina de Silva, and a team of deep-water surveyors explore Japan’s waters, which are known for their incredible diversity of shark species.
Japan is home to a wide range of shark species, many of which have unique and otherworldly appearances. Galante and his team set out on a mission to study and document these alien sharks, with a particular focus on the critically endangered Angel Shark.
As they navigate the waters, they encounter a total of 17 different shark species, each with its own distinct characteristics.
