Starz has announced the acquisition of the US and Canada rights to “Sweetpea,” a twisted coming-of-age story starring Ella Purnell (“Yellowjackets,” “Fallout”). Purnell also serves as an executive producer on the series, which is based on the cult novel of the same name by C.J. Skuse.
“Sweetpea” follows the story of Rhiannon Lewis, a young woman who goes through a transformative journey after being continually overlooked in her life. Rhiannon, pushed over the edge, discovers a new, intoxicating power within herself, but it comes at a cost as she must keep her killer secret.
The six-part series, produced by See-Saw Films and fanboy in association with Sky Studios, features an ensemble cast, including Nicôle Lecky, Jon Pointing, Calam Lynch, Leah Harvey, Jeremy Swift, and Dustin Demri-Burns.
Alison Hoffman, President of Domestic Networks, Starz, expressed excitement saying “we’re excited to partner again with Ella Purnell and Sky Studios on such a fresh, boundary-breaking story.”
“Sweetpea” is set to debut on Starz later in 2024.
