Six Classic Episodes Featuring the Beloved Character to Air on Sunday, July 21, Starting at 8 PM

TBS is paying tribute to the life and career of comedian and actor Bob Newhart with a special “Big Bang Theory” marathon. The marathon, titled “In Memory of Professor Proton,” will air on Sunday, July 21, from 8:00-11:00 PM, featuring six hand-picked episodes that showcase Newhart’s memorable portrayal of the character.

The selected episodes include “The Proton Resurgence,” “The Proton Displacement,” “The Proton Transmogrification,” “The Opening Night Excitation,” “The Proton Regeneration,” and “The Planetarium Collision.” Each episode highlights Newhart’s comedic talent and his impact on the popular sitcom.

“The Big Bang Theory” centers on the lives of two brilliant physicists, Leonard and Sheldon, who struggle to navigate social interactions, especially after the free-spirited Penny moves in next door.

Newhart’s character, Professor Proton, a childhood hero of Sheldon’s, first appeared in the show’s sixth season and became a recurring role, much to the delight of fans.

Bob Newhart, a legendary figure in American comedy, was known for his unique delivery and timing. His career spanned decades and included numerous awards and accolades, such as the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, which he received in 2002.
