The CW’s foray into the Wild West has come to an abrupt end. The network has pulled the plug on its unscripted series, The Wranglers, after just three episodes on its Monday night lineup. The remaining five episodes of the eight-episode season have been released on The CW app, offering fans a chance to finish the season’s ride. The series, initially presented as a limited series, chronicled the lives of young staff members at the Circle Bar Dude ranch in Montana.

The Wranglers offered viewers a look into the demanding world of dude ranch life, where staff, known as wranglers, balanced the needs of discerning guests with their own personal dramas. The show captured the “work hard, play hard” ethos of the ranch, presenting the wranglers’ professional dedication by day and their uninhibited 20-something adventures by night. All against the backdrop of Montana’s stunning landscapes.

The series struggled to lasso viewers, averaging a 0.02 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 158,000 viewers (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While the initial announcement of The Wranglers generated some buzz, the show’s low ratings likely sealed its fate, making a second season improbable. This cancellation continues a trend for the network, raising questions about its overall programming strategy.
