So, Thanksgiving’s looming, and the pressure’s on. But what if I told you there’s a way to dodge the familial food fight and still enjoy a delicious holiday meal? Food Network’s The Kitchen is back with “Flavorful Friendsgiving,” a Saturday, November 16 offering that looks to be a more relaxed alternative to the traditional Thanksgiving blowout. And yes, the ever-delightful Carla Hall is making an appearance.
The Kitchen crew, apparently realizing we could all use a break from the usual turkey-induced tension, is embracing the Friendsgiving vibe, presenting a menu designed for laid-back gatherings. Think less formality, more flavor.
Geoffrey Zakarian, never one to shy away from a well-crafted cocktail, is on beverage duty. He’s shaking things up with Lamb Stuffed Fried Olives and a Pomegranate Hugo Spritz. It’s Zakarian, so expect a certain level of elegance, even amidst the casual Friendsgiving atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Katie Lee Biegel and Jeff Mauro tackle the main course. They’re promising a one-pot Dutch Oven Turkey Breast with Gravy, which sounds suspiciously like a smart shortcut. But hey, efficiency doesn’t preclude deliciousness. They’re also whipping up a Rye Stuffing with Apples, Pancetta, and Sage, because stuffing is basically mandatory, and this version sounds like a welcome twist on the classic.
And what’s a Friendsgiving without dessert? Carla Hall, returning to The Kitchen, is teaming up with Sunny Anderson to bake a Cocoa Spiced Bundt Cake. Hall will also be sharing some tidbits about her latest cookbook, “Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking,” which, let’s be honest, sounds like something we all need on our shelves.
This episode of The Kitchen airs Saturday, November 16 at 11:00 AM ET/PT on Food Network.
