On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, CBS’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert welcomes actress Cynthia Erivo and Congressman Rep. Jamaal Bowman to the show.

Cynthia Erivo, the English actress and singer, joins the show to discuss her illustrious career. Erivo gained recognition for her award-winning performance in the Broadway revival of “The Color Purple” from 2015 to 2017, for which she received a Tony Award and a Grammy Award.

She ventured into films in 2018, playing roles in the thriller “Bad Times at the El Royale” and the heist film “Widows.” Erivo also portrayed American abolitionist Harriet Tubman in the 2019 biopic “Harriet,” receiving Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actress.

Congressman Rep. Jamaal Bowman, an American politician and former educator, represents New York’s 16th congressional district. Bowman is a democratic socialist and a member of the Squad, a group of progressive House Democrats. He rose to prominence as a teacher and later founded the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action, a public middle school in the Bronx.

Bowman was elected to Congress in 2021, defeating 16-term incumbent Eliot Engel in the Democratic primary. He has been a vocal advocate for progressive policies, including criminal justice reform, education, and Medicare for All.
