The Independent Film Channel presents “The Lovers,” a six-part romantic comedy-drama series exploring an unlikely romance. Airing on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 11:00 PM.
“The Lovers” stars Johnny Flynn and Roisin Gallagher as the unlikely couple, Seamus and Janet, who appear to be wrong for each other but may just be perfect together.
The series is set in Belfast and explores the relationship between Seamus, a self-centered political broadcaster, and Janet, a foul-mouthed supermarket worker who doesn’t care much about anything, including her life. Despite their differences, the pair find themselves drawn to each other.
Janet’s husband has just left her, and she is planning to end it all. Meanwhile, Seamus is offered a TV show in Belfast, which he accepts as a chance to connect with his Irish roots. Through a series of contrived events, he meets Janet, and their unlikely love story begins.
The show also stars Alice Eve as Frankie, Seamus’s celebrity girlfriend, and Conleth Hill as Philip, Janet’s supermarket boss.
“The Lovers” is written by David Ireland and directed by Justin Martin.
