The Motorway Cops: Catching Britain’s Speeders returns with an action-packed episode on Channel 5, airing Monday, 22 July 2024. In this instalment, PC Will Hunter, PC Brian Camsell, and PC Jan Simlesa tackle dangerous driving, suspected car cloning, and speeding on the A1.
The episode begins with PC Will Hunter on patrol during the morning rush hour in Sunderland. He observes a driver dangerously overtaking other vehicles and decides to give chase. When Will catches up with the driver, the latter offers an explanation for his reckless behaviour: he claims to be late for work. However, Will detects the scent of alcohol, raising suspicions about the driver’s activities the night before.
Meanwhile, outside Newcastle, PC Brian Camsell is on the hunt for a suspected cloned car. With skill and determination, Brian locates the vehicle and strategically positions himself behind it. He calls for backup to surround the car and bring it to a stop.
The driver claims to have purchased the car that very morning in a cash transaction without obtaining a receipt. PC Camsell’s instincts prove correct as a search of the vehicle uncovers a set of number plates and accessories commonly associated with car thieves.
PC Jan Simlesa finds himself in a high-speed pursuit on the A1. A pickup truck speeds past, prompting Jan to accelerate to over 100 mph in an attempt to catch up. He witnesses the driver swerving erratically and bullying other cars out of the way. Jan pulls the driver over and encounters an obstinate young man who blames his dangerous driving on the vehicle’s tracking. Unconvinced, Jan presents video evidence, but the driver remains defiant, offering a multitude of excuses.
