The BBC and Prime Video have announced the return of acclaimed actress Olivia Colman to the upcoming second season of the spy thriller “The Night Manager.” Colman will reprise her award-winning role as Angela Burr, a performance that garnered critical acclaim and contributed to the show’s success.
Joining Colman are Alistair Petrie, Michael Nardone, Douglas Hodge, and Noah Jupe, who are set to reprise their original roles.
Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, said that the presence of Colman and the returning cast ensures “the second series of The Night Manager promises to provide even more drama, glamour, intrigue and suspense.”
The first season of “The Night Manager” left a lasting impression on viewers and critics, with Colman’s portrayal of Angela Burr being particularly memorable. Her performance earned her a Best Supporting Actress award, contributing to the show’s impressive haul of accolades, which included multiple BAFTAs, Emmy Awards, and Golden Globes.
In addition to the returning cast, the show welcomes new main characters Diego Calva and Camila Morrone, who join the impressive ensemble that includes Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi, Hayley Squires, and Tom Hiddleston, reprising his role as Jonathan Pine.
“The Night Manager” is based on the bestselling novel by John le Carré. Show creator David Farr returns as writer for the second season, joined by BAFTA-winning director Georgi Banks-Davies.
Character 7’s Stephen Garrett, lead executive producer, expressed his excitement about the reunion of the dynamic cast, “it’s thrilling that our riotously dysfunctional family is now, after 8 years apart, reunited for season 2.”
The acclaimed creative team also includes executive producers Hugh Laurie, Joe Tsai, Arthur Wang, Stephen and Simon Cornwell, Michele Wolkoff, Tessa Inkelaar, Adrián Guerra, William D. Johnson, Nick Cornwell, Susanne Bier, Chris Rice, and Gaynor Holmes.
The new episodes will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and globally on Prime Video.
