Oz Cobblepot, aka The Penguin (Colin Farrell), never really seems to catch a break. Just when you think he’s got a handle on his burgeoning criminal empire, something comes along to knock his tiny top hat askew. In “Top Hat,” it looks like family squabbles and Sofia Falcone’s (Cristin Milioti) penchant for digging up dirt will be the latest feathers to ruffle Oz’s already precarious plumage.
The official synopsis hints at Oz scrambling to protect both his biological family and his criminal enterprise. One has to wonder if those two things are starting to blur together, and whether Oz even sees the difference anymore. Meanwhile, Sofia apparently stumbles upon a game-changing revelation. Knowing Sofia, this discovery probably won’t be used for a friendly game of charades. More likely, it’s something that’ll add fuel to the already raging fire between her and Oz.
Considering Oz’s recent, shall we say, aggressive expansion tactics, and Sofia’s general lack of patience for anyone who crosses her, it’s safe to assume that “Top Hat” won’t feature a lot of tea parties and polite conversation. Let’s just hope Oz has more than just a tiny umbrella to shield himself from the storm that seems to be brewing.
