In this concluding episode of this run of episodes of The Supervet: Noel Fitzpatrick we meet adorable toy poodle Monty, the pride and joy of owners Dave and Di. The energetic two-year-old was a promising agility dog until a tragic accident during a walk in the park left him with a damaged hip joint.
Due to his tiny stature, finding a surgeon skilled enough to perform a complex total hip replacement on such a small scale proves challenging. Dave and Di pin their hopes on Noel, who has a reputation for tackling intricate cases.
Also featured is the story of Odin, a majestic 75kg Caucasian shepherd dog struggling with wobblers syndrome, a painful condition affecting his vertebrae and spinal cord. The condition impairs his ability to walk, and many would consider it untreatable.
Odin also faces the additional challenge of disc issues in his lower back. Noel proposes a unique and innovative solution: custom titanium spacers of his own invention, not available anywhere else in the world. It’s a delicate procedure, and Odin’s life hangs in the balance.
Lastly, we meet beautiful malamute husky cross Maya, who suffered a traumatic injury after being hit by a train at the age of three, resulting in the loss of one of her front feet. Four years later, Maya is facing new challenges due to osteoarthritis in both hip joints caused by dysplasia.
Walking on three legs has become increasingly difficult, so Noel collaborates with prosthetist Alan to create a unique stump socket prosthetic foot based on a CT scan of her leg, with the goal of getting Maya back on all four paws.
