Prime Video and Amazon Freevee have announced that the sun-soaked and suspenseful Australian crime series Troppo is returning for a second season, premiering on July 25, 2024. All eight episodes will be available for binge-watching on the platforms in the US, UK, Germany, and Austria.
Set in the fictional rural town of Crimson Lake, nestled in tropical North Australia, the series stars Thomas Jane as Ted Conkaffey and Nicole Chamoun as Amanda Pharrell, an unlikely duo with a knack for solving mysterious crimes.
This season, Conkaffey and Pharrell take on their next challenge: unraveling the bizarre murder of a healing retreat leader, which leads them down a rabbit hole of exotic drug rings and ‘bikie’ gang connections. As the investigation unfolds, Pharrell tangles with an old enemy and a new love interest, while Conkaffey’s past catches up with him, putting his family in danger.
Based on the Crimson Lake books by #1 New York Times best-selling author Candice Fox, Troppo is adapted for television by Yolanda Ramke. The second season draws inspiration from the second book in the series, Redemption Point.
The production boasts a strong returning cast, including Radha Mitchell, Simon Lyndon, Angela Punch McGregor, Ling Cooper Tang, and Sara West. Joining the ensemble for this season are Zindzi Okenyo as Detective Sweeney, Ursula Yovich as Ronnie, Miah Madden as Tayla, Ethan Lwin as Raph, Chloe Delle-Vedove as Lilly Conkaffey, and Brett Tucker as Colin.
