In the second episode of this new season of Troppo, airing on ABC Australia on Friday, 12 July 2024, at 8:20 pm, Ted and Amanda look into the world of Julian’s neighbours, uncovering a web of grudges and suspicion.
Picking up the pieces after a shotgun blast of rock salt, Ted (Thomas Jane) remains puzzled by Julian’s (Andrew Buchanan) mysterious payments to White Hat Investments. He reaches out to Amanda (Nicole Chamoun), who is still reeling from her encounter with Twist (Simon Lyndon). Despite their suspicions, they soon learn that Twist is, in fact, Julian’s half-brother and Raph’s (Ethan Lwin) uncle.
Ted and Amanda turn their attention to Family Tree’s neighbours, Max (Robert Mammone) and Stella McQuillan (Di Adams). The couple is less than welcoming, and as Ted and Amanda probe further, they uncover a tragic secret. Three years ago, the McQuillan’s son died in a boating accident with Raph at the helm. Both boys were under the influence of an unknown drug. The McQuillans hold a deep grudge against Julian, who used his influence to keep Raph out of trouble.
With no solid alibis for the night of Julian’s death, Ted and Amanda suspect the McQuillans. Their suspicions grow as Raph, in an act of rebellion, torches the McQuillan’s memorial to their son. Meanwhile, Amanda receives an unwelcome gift from Twist—a deadly snake. Ted also catches a glimpse of Julian’s stolen E-Type Jag speeding past him on the road.
