Paramount+ has announced the global premiere dates for its new feature-length documentary “UNCHARTED.” The film will debut in the United States and Canada on October 22, followed by releases in the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria on October 23. Japanese audiences can watch the documentary starting November 15.
“UNCHARTED” provides an inside look at Alicia Keys’ She Is The Music songwriting camp, focusing on the challenges faced by young Black and brown women in the music industry. The documentary follows several aspiring artists as they work to create hit songs and establish themselves in the business. Featured participants include Ayoni from Barbados, DaVionne from Atlanta, and Jean Deaux from Chicago, each pursuing their musical dreams through different paths.
The film, which first screened at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, emphasizes the importance of representation and opportunity in the music industry. Alicia Keys notes that “everything done in this film was done by women in every capacity,”
Beth Aala directed and produced “UNCHARTED” for Everywoman Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios. Executive producers include Abby Greensfelder, Katie Couric, Abigail Rodriguez, Brenda Robinson, Regina K. Scully, Geralyn White Dreyfous, and Alicia Keys.
