This UnXplained Special Presentation takes a look at the enigmas and mysteries that emerged from World War II, the deadliest conflict in human history. From 1939 to 1945, over fifty nations were embroiled in harrowing combat, and while the Axis Powers were eventually defeated, numerous enigmas remain.
In the first of two episodes airing on History on Tuesday night, there is a look at intriguing questions such as the existence of an armored train filled with Nazi gold hidden in the tunnels of a Polish castle. It also examines the astonishing survival story of a man who lived through not just one, but two atomic bombings.
