Educated Evans (BBC Sitcom, Charlie Chester, Jack Melford)

In this BBC sitcom we follow the exploits of cockney race horse tipster Educated Evans (Charlie Chester) as he attempted to stay one step ahead of the law, mainly in the form of Detective Sergeant Miller (Jack Melford).

The character of Evans was created by thriller king Edgar Wallace and had previously been seen in a 1936 film with Max Miller in the lead role. Funnily enough Chester’s “schtick” was very similar to that of Miller’s.
