Me And The Girls (BBC 1985, Tom Courtenay, Nichola McAuliffe)

Opening in Switzerland in 1938 Me And The Girls sees George Banks, after being confined to hospital with a serious illness, looking back over his life as leader of a dance troupe, whilst well wishers and the girls from his troupe visit his bedside.

Me And The Girls A chance for the superb Tom Courtenay to have a bit of a song and a dance. This generally slight drama, one of six in the Star Quality series, benefits from some top performances and works best with the getting the show together moments. The stagey settings and production design are also definite pluses. The ending is also very clever.
